Our close, intimate relationships are our greatest opportunity for spiritual growth, whether they be with a family member, friend, or beloved.

In many ways, it is easier to live apart and not have to deal with another person’s stuff, not to mention one’s own stuff in relation to that other person.  We generally can’t see the depth of our suffering until it is revealed in close relationship.  For this, we can learn to be grateful for those in our lives who challenge us in this way, seeing their presence as a blessing and not a source of pain and frustration.  For we are never truly upset at what is outside of ourselves, but only the deep sense of guilt, shame and unworthiness that we carry with us everywhere we go.

And so the primary relationship is with our self/Self, and the one and only lesson that we are presented with over and over again is how to love unconditionally.

This counseling session could be one-on-one, for a couple, or both partners individually.  My intention is always to be a good listener and to see if I can help get to the root of the issue or issues, providing practical guidance for moving forward.
