If I were to leave this world this moment, what would I want to tell the world? That’s what I’m seeking to touch as I write this to you, that place of letting go of everything…
When I touch that place in myself, which is as often as I can, I know that my life has only be about love. What has prevented me from truly living love in every moment has only been my own resistance to what that means. What that means to me is to love everyone equally, without a sense of separation. And it also means to forgive myself and “others” (who are me) for not living up to that. Because that is also love.
Now, for a resumé of my activities:
I received a BA & MA from the University of Pennsylvania, in Philosophy and Religious Studies.
I also began a PhD in Comparative Mysticism at New York University, but did not finish as I realized that academia was not my path.
My primary and most influential teachers in the world of yoga were all women saints from India. I traveled to India several times to deepen in my practice with one of those teachers, Sri Karunamayi.
As far as Hatha Yoga, the styles I practiced most were Iyengar Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, and Dharma Yoga. I have also practiced my share of Kundalini Yoga, Partner Yoga, and AcroYoga. My most influential Hatha Yoga teacher was Dharma Mittra, whose studio I visited in NYC in the late ’90s and with whom I am currently completing my 500-Hour Yoga Teacher certification. In addition, I completed a 300-Hr Yoga & Ayurveda course with Dr. David Frawley, founder and head of the American Institute of Vedic Studies.
In 2006, I founded what was to become Yoga University, an international Yoga Teacher Training school. The school has held trainings in Florida, Costa Rica, Maui, Canada and Bali, and will continue to offer workshops, retreats and trainings around the world in years to come.
Around that same time (2006), I became a student of shamanism and plant medicine, seeing them as just another form of yoga. With the help of yoga and shamanism, I was ultimately led to what I feel is my path in this lifetime, and that is that laid out in A Course in Miracles. I love the Course because for me it truly gets to the root of the spiritual/human dilemma, and it unfold a very gentle and forgiving path of extricating ourselves from all that we are not.
I feel that my greatest strengths are as a philosopher, writer, and guide. My written works are The Great Yoga Quest, and Who Am I? Yoga, Psychedelics & The Quest for Enlightenment. Portions of these books will be published on this site. The Who Am I? book in now available in paperback and kindle format on Amazon, you can check it out HERE .
I also have a great passion for bodywork and music/sound healing. Because I have been so focused on the body for so long, I have a innate sense of what feels good, in addition to a fairly developed intuition. I love the didgeridoo and have received wonderful responses to my sound healings with the didge. I also compose original music on the guitar. Thank you for your listening ear and heart : )
ps. Here’s a video of me doing a yoga flow at the Spirit of Aloha on Maui:
